The Cleveland Browns once again found themselves on the wrong end of a close contest, falling to 2-7 on the season after losing 27-20 to the New York Jets.
And Skip Bayless has demanded an explanation from Kevin Stefanski over his decision to snub Shedeur Sanders once again.
Despite another underwhelming performance from starter Dillon Gabriel, Stefanski opted not to insert Sanders, a move that immediately drew criticism across social media – especially from Bayless, who voiced his frustrations.
“How much longer do I have to watch Dillon Gabriel dink and dunk and clunk … and lose, even to the Jets … before Shedeur gets his turn???” Bayless wrote on X.com.
Bayless demands accountability from Stefanski
During his postgame rant, Bayless called the Browns‘ offensive strategy “painfully conservative” and accused Stefanski of being too stubborn to make a necessary change.
He also pointed to the growing frustration among fans who have been calling for Sanders to start since midseason.
Dillon Gabriel finished the game completing 17 of 32 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns, but he was also sacked six times and struggled to move the ball consistently.
The Jets‘ defense took advantage, pressuring him throughout and forcing the Browns into three-and-outs on key drives.
The ongoing debate surrounding Sanders has become one of the defining storylines of the Browns‘ season. A fifth-round pick out of Colorado and the son of Deion Sanders, Shedeur arrived in Cleveland with huge expectations and a massive following.
Yet, through nine weeks, he has yet to take a single regular-season snap. When asked after the game about the rookie’s lack of playing time, Stefanski remained firm. “We’re going to stick with Dillon,” he told reporters. “He’s done a nice job in practice and continues to develop.”
That explanation did little to satisfy Bayless or Browns fans, who see the team’s 2-7 record as justification to give Sanders a chance.
Pressure mounting in Cleveland
The Browns‘ offense has now failed to score more than 20 points in four straight games, and their playoff hopes are all but gone.
Meanwhile, the defense, led by Myles Garrett, continues to deliver strong performances despite receiving little help from the offense.
With upcoming games against the Ravens and Bengals, the calls for Shedeur Sanders to start will only intensify.
The message was clear: for Kevin Stefanski and the Cleveland Browns, patience is wearing thin – and Skip Bayless is making sure everyone knows it.
