The New York Yankees are continuing to patiently wait for Carlos Rodón‘s return to the rotation, and now there is finally a clear roadmap for his 2026 MLB debut.
So what comes next for Rodón?
According to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch, the left-hander is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session this Saturday before beginning a minor league rehab assignment. Manager Aaron Boone expects him to make at least three appearances as part of that progression.
Rodón is working his way back from preseason elbow surgery and a recent hamstring issue, with the Yankees taking a cautious approach to avoid any setbacks early in the season.
Once healthy, Rodón is expected to be a major addition to the rotation. He is coming off an All-Star season in which he posted a 3.09 ERA with 203 strikeouts and 73 walks. In his three seasons with New York, he owns a 4.00 ERA with 462 strikeouts across 79 starts.
The Yankees are also managing injuries to key arms including Gerrit Cole and Clarke Schmidt, making pitching health a central storyline early in the year. Once fully restored, the rotation could significantly boost the team’s World Series contention outlook.
For now, the focus remains on careful progression. If Rodón’s rehab assignment goes as planned, the Yankees expect a smooth transition back to the major league roster.
