Leo Messi’s teammate? Cristiano Ronaldo could have signed with PSG

In 2018, before Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus Turin, the 40-year-old Portuguese star could have signed for Paris Saint-Germain.

After winning the Champions League in Kiev, CR7 announced that his time at Real Madrid had come to an end. There was no shortage of offers to sign Cristiano, including one from the Parisian club.

CR7 could have been Messi’s teammate

The story of the Madeira-born player (and even that of soccer) could have been very different. Patrice Evra, Cristiano’s former teammate at Manchester United, revealed in an interview with French media outlet RMC Sports that CR7 could have worn the colors of Chelsea, Juventus, or PSG, but he was leaning toward the latter.

“He was interested in coming to Paris, believe me, he would have adapted. That was before he signed for Juventus. He had Chelsea, Juventus, PSG… he said he would never go to Arsenal,” said Evra.

At the time, the Parisian team was looking to make another big move after acquiring Neymar. Signing CR7 would have been a dream come true for PSG and its fans, as they also had Kylian Mbappé on their roster, but the Portuguese player ended up leaning towards the Italian team.

“PSG was interested in the project, he would have adapted and worked hard,” Evra added.

Despite this, it is interesting to note that, had he signed with PSG and remained at the club, he could have played alongside his eternal rival, Lionel Messi, as the Argentine joined the club after ending his spell at Barcelona in 2021.

Finally, CR7 wore the Juventus colors for three seasons, from 2018 to 2021. In addition, he scored 101 goals in 134 games, becoming the fastest player to reach 100 goals with the club and winning five national titles. However, he failed to achieve the team’s main objective: winning the Champions League.
