This Sunday, April 19, the Al Nassr captain celebrated twice after scoring another goal that not only brings him closer to the 1,000-goal mark but also helped the team secure a 4-0 victory over Al Wasl in the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League 2.

However, securing a spot in the semifinals wasn’t the only thing Cristiano Ronaldo did during the match; he also made sure to respond to those in the stands chanting for Lionel Messi.

Cristiano responded to the chants for Messi

The 41-year-old Portuguese star opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the match thanks to a precise cross from Boushal, bringing his career total to 970 goals. Iñigo Martínez (24′), Abdulelah Al-Amri (26′), and Sadio Mané (80′) added the rest of the goals for Al Nassr.

However, he was at the center of an incident that quickly went viral. During the match, fans began chanting for his historic rival, Lionel Messi, with the classic “Messi, Messi,” seeking to provoke him and throw him off his game.

Far from ignoring them, the Portuguese star responded with a defiant gesture: first, he asked for silence by putting his finger to his lips, and then he made a calming sign, clearly signaling for them to stay calm.

The situation unfolded in a heated atmosphere, with Ronaldo fully immersed in the match and standing out as one of the key players. The forward played 67 minutes, recorded 24 touches, and took three shots before being substituted for Abdullah Al-Hamdan.

However, his goal once again demonstrated not only that he remains relevant and decisive, continuing his scoring streak, but also reignited the rivalry between him and Leo.

Meanwhile, Al Nassr will play its next Saudi Professional League match at home on Wednesday, the 29th, against Al-Ahli, in a direct clash at the top of the table. Al-Ahli currently sits in 3rd place, while Al-Nassr seeks to consolidate its lead.
