Falcao recalls his struggle in Europe when facing Messi and CR7 at their peak

There was a time when the Spanish La Liga was dominated by the exploits, goals, and assists of two great icons who stole the show: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Facing Barcelona or Real Madrid was a real challenge because of the stars who led these teams. And someone who remembers this clearly is the experienced Colombian striker, Radamel Falcao García.

Falcao’s confession about Leo and Cristiano

Colombia’s top scorer had a stint in Europe, where his play did not go unnoticed, especially on teams such as Porto and Atlético Madrid. However, in a quick-fire question and answer session with influencer ‘thediegooviedoo‘, Radamel recalled two “tougher” players he had to face at that time.

When naming them, he did not hesitate: “[Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo,” he said, confessing: “Every time I faced them, I scored a goal, but they scored three, and it was impossible to beat them.”

The truth is that during his time at Barcelona, Lionel scored 672 goals in 778 official matches, establishing himself as the team’s top scorer. For his part, Cristiano is currently the top scorer in soccer history with 958 goals, 450 of which were scored for Real Madrid in 438 games.

For this reason, when asked about his experience facing them, the current Millonarios player responded with praise for both players: “They are far superior, and I knew that at any moment they could make the difference in the game.”

Falcao’s words put into perspective the level of competition in those years, where the challenge was not to score goals against opponents, but to stop Leo or CR7 from scoring, something almost impossible.

Similarly, Radamel’s confession reopens a new chapter in one of soccer’s biggest debates: who is better, Messi or Cristiano? However, for Falcao, it is clear: both stars shine on their own and deserve to be at the top.
