David Beckham celebrates career highs while a family absence lingers

David Beckham marked the end of the year by celebrating some of the biggest moments of his life, but the reflection came with an unmistakable sense of sadness as his relationship with his eldest son, Brooklyn, remains fractured.

In a new Instagram post, Beckham described 2025 as a year he will “remember forever,” pointing to personal and professional achievements that defined the last twelve months.

Turning 50, receiving his knighthood, and winning the MLS as a co-owner of Inter Miami CF all featured prominently. What stood out just as clearly was who was missing.

“I feel very lucky to have had the year I’ve had in 2025 full of moments that I will never forget from my 50th to my knighthood (still pinching myself) and then finishing with winning the MLS as an owner,” Beckham wrote.

It is widely believed that the celebrations surrounding that occasion marked the breaking point in his relationship with Brooklyn.

Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, were absent from all of Beckham‘s birthday events, which spanned several weeks and multiple countries.

Since then, the couple have not attended any Beckham family gatherings and have reportedly blocked David, Victoria Beckham, and their siblings on social media.

The Instagram carousel Beckham shared included 20 moments from the year. Photos showed him enjoying time with his other children Romeo, Cruz, and Harper during holidays and celebrations. Brooklyn did not appear in any of the images.

Beckham thanked his family in general terms but did not name his children individually, a subtle shift from past posts.

“I’m so grateful to my incredible wife, my amazing children, my friends and team I work with every single day nothing would have been possible without you all,” he wrote. “But as Sir Alex Ferguson would say ‘onto the the next’. Thank you for the incredible memories I will forever remember 2025. @victoriabeckham I love you & our kids.”

Public milestones, private distance

Brooklyn and Nicola‘s absence has stretched well beyond one event. The couple skipped Christmas in the Cotswolds and instead remained in the United States, where Nicola later said she “loved being home” after finishing filming for the thriller Pretty Ugly.

They have continued to present a united front as public scrutiny has grown. Earlier this week, Nicola shared a photo of herself and Brooklyn relaxing together in matching grey outfits. “We didn’t plan our outfits,” she wrote, with Brooklyn replying, “my sweetie pie.”

The post drew an immediate response from fans, many of whom urged Brooklyn to reconnect with his parents. Comments included pleas such as “Call your parents, life is too short” and “Never forget where you came from.”

Brooklyn was also notably absent from the wedding of Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty, which the rest of the Beckham family attended. Reports suggest there has been no contact between Brooklyn and his family for months following the fallout tied to David‘s 50th birthday.

Cruz Beckham later addressed rumors that the family had unfollowed Brooklyn on social media, offering a different explanation.

“My mum and dad would never unfollow their son… Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I,” Cruz wrote.

While David and Victoria celebrated Holly‘s wedding in Britain, Brooklyn shared a Grinch themed post from Los Angeles. Over the past year, he and Nicola have missed numerous Beckham family birthdays, holidays, and gatherings.

Nicola later appeared to hint at her feelings by sharing a quote from Brigitte Bardot.

“If I could do anything about the way people behave towards each other, I would, but since I can’t I’ll stick to the animals,” she wrote.
