Angel Reese is expanding her off-court journey, this time stepping into television drama with a costarring role in the second season of Netflix‘s The Hunting Wives.
The news marks another milestone in the Chicago Sky forward’s burgeoning entertainment résumé as she continues to gain traction far beyond the hardwood.
Reese, a two-time WNBA All-Star who has become one of the most recognizable faces in women’s basketball since bursting onto the scene after a standout college career at LSU, will portray a character named Trainer Barbie in the upcoming season of the hit series, which is now in production.
The role builds on Reese‘s growing presence on screen. She previously appeared in Netflix‘s political thriller A House of Dynamite in a cameo role and will voice a polar bear athlete named Propp in the animated film GOAT, produced by Stephen Curry‘s Unanimous Media and set for release in theaters in February 2026.
From hardwood to Hollywood sets
Reese‘s interest in acting was hardly incidental. In August 2025, she messaged The Hunting Wives creator Rebecca Cutter on social media after watching the first season, playfully offering her availability for a future role, a message that now seems prophetic in light of her new casting.
On X, Reese shared the news with her followers alongside behind-the-scenes photos from set, captioning her post simply with the name of her character, “Trainer Barbie,” flanked by basketball and entertainment emojis.
The Hunting Wives debuted in July 2025 to strong viewership, blending drama and intrigue around the lives of a tight-knit group of women in East Texas.
The addition of Reese for season two signals a continued broadening of the cast and introduces her to audiences who may know her more for her athletic prowess than for acting.
Her involvement with GOAT places her alongside a vocal ensemble including A’ja Wilson and previously announced talents from Hollywood, a notable crossover for professional athletes in family-oriented entertainment.
For Reese, the move feels like a natural extension of an increasingly public persona that has made her one of the most marketable athletes in women’s sports today, without detracting from her dedication to basketball.
Building a multifacetted brand
Reese‘s career off the court has been just as dynamic as her play on it. In 2025, she made history as the first professional athlete to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, a leap into high fashion that ignited conversations about the evolving place of athletes in mainstream culture.
She’s also become a speaker at major cultural events, such as Barbie Dream Fest in Fort Lauderdale, where her presence as a featured guest underlined her broad appeal and influence beyond sports.
