Tom Brady’s niece Maya brings new joy to her uncle while Jack Brady tries to succeed in basketball

Tom Brady has long been associated with championship success, but the next wave of his family is beginning to carve out its own place in the athletic world.

His niece, Maya Brady, continues to shine as one of the most dominant softball players in the country, while his son, Jack Brady, is working to build a name for himself on the basketball court.

Together, they represent a fascinating glimpse into the future of a sports dynasty that refuses to fade.

This week brought a major milestone for Maya Brady, who was selected No. 1 overall in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League expansion draft.

The shortstop will join the Oklahoma City Spark, one of two expansion franchises, along with Cascade, set to begin play in the 2026 season.

Her uncle’s praise has long hinted at her potential. Tom Brady once said she is “the most dominant athlete in the Brady family … by far.” The Spark are about to see exactly why.

The AUSL, now a six-team league featuring the Bandits, Blaze, Talons, Volts, and the two new additions, enters its second season in June 2026.

For Maya Brady, the league represents the next step after a standout collegiate career at UCLA.

Her list of accomplishments is staggering: Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2023 and 2024, two-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year finalist, three-time NFCA First Team All-American, and a four-time All-Pac-12 selection. She even captured the Pac-12 batting title in 2023 with a .456 average.

A family tradition of sports dominance

The success of Maya Brady is far from accidental. She comes from a family steeped in athletic excellence.

Her mother, Maureen Brady, recorded 29 no-hitters and 14 perfect games as a high school pitcher, one of the most impressive prep careers on record.

Another aunt, Julie Brady, played college soccer at St. Mary’s before marrying former Boston Red Sox star Kevin Youkilis, a two-time World Series champion. With a family tree like that, athletic excellence seems almost inevitable.

Before being drafted first overall, Maya Brady played eight games with the Talons during the AUSL’s inaugural 2025 season, finishing with a .500 batting average, 11 hits in 22 at-bats, a home run, and five RBI, a preview of the dominance she may bring to Oklahoma City.

Meanwhile, Jack Brady is developing his own path, focused on basketball rather than baseball or football. Though he is still early in his athletic journey, his dedication and competitive nature have drawn comparisons to his father’s intensity.

Family insiders say he has been training heavily, hoping to establish himself in a sport that demands both skill and discipline. While he may not yet have the national spotlight his cousin enjoys, those who have watched him play believe he has real potential.

For Tom Brady, watching both his niece and his son grow as athletes appears to be a new source of excitement after retirement.

As Maya Brady prepares to enter the professional softball world and Jack Brady works to build his own athletic identity, the Brady family legacy continues, stronger, wider, and more inspiring than ever.
