Tiger Woods gets surprisingly good news following DUI car crash

At 50 years old, Tiger Woods is living a nightmare at the moment. A couple of days after making his golfing return following yet another emotionally and physically back surgery, Woods was involved in a rollover car crash that led to his arrest for suspicion of DUI.

It was surely deja vu for Woods, who was previously involved in two major crashes back in 2017 and 2021. Woods has already been released from jail on bail, but it’s yet another bad look for him and continues a worrying trend due to his perceived reliance on prescription drugs.

Tiger Woods likely to escape DUI charge, but still faces others

Now, Woods has to wait for the legal process to play out. Although everything seems to be going the wrong way, a South Florida lawyer has created a light at the end of the tunnel for Woods. Robert Reiff, a defense attorney in the state, told Yahoo Sports after the accident that there isn’t much of a DUI case that can be made against the golfer.

“Seems like they have no case, no DUI case. Period, full stop. Sometimes [officers] go to the default position, we think you’re impaired. Take a breath test, pass it. Oh well, then it must be drugs. Sorry, it doesn’t work that way… I’ll certainly tell you from what I’ve been hearing … it sure doesn’t seem like they have proof – at least not of the DUI.“

Woods refused to submit to a urine test, so there’s practically no evidence to confirm he was using drugs. The officers on the scene claimed that he “did exemplify signs of impairment“. He was not under the influence of alcohol, as he blew a 0.00 during the breathalyzer test.

Reiff is adamant that the police have nothing on Woods in regards to the DUI suspicion. Woods will still have to face the charges of property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
