The three MLS clubs most likely to sign Casemiro

Casemiro’s cycle at Manchester United seems to have an expiration date. After a decade of absolute dominance in Europe, the historic Brazilian midfielder is on the radar of MLS for 2026. Despite having regained his place in the starting eleven and confidence at Old Trafford this season, the expiration of his contract and his high salary are pushing the Red Devils to seek an amicable exit.

Although the Saudi league is always an option for European football stars, rumors have positioned the United States as the preferred destination and there are already three teams interested in the former Real Madrid player.

The three MLS clubs most likely to sign Casemiro

New York City FC

The New York team, under the management of Pascal Jansen, has shown enviable tactical versatility by alternating between three and five defenders. However, they face a critical void: Justin Haak, the youth player who established himself as a central defender after leaving the pivot position, is out of contract and negotiations for his renewal appear to have stalled.

In this way, the eventual arrival of Casemiro would be ideal to have a quality replacement and, above all, a lot of experience.

Columbus Crew

The Crew is going through a period of profound change. The possible return of Wilfried Nancy from Celtic could be the catalyst for the Brazilian’s arrival.

The aim would be to give Casemiro more of a playmaking and organising role for the team, where he does not have to run as much as in the Premier League.

Austin FC

Matthew McConaughey’s team is perhaps the one with the clearest financial path. Following the record sale of Osman Bukari to Polish soccer for $6.5 million, Austin FC has a spot available and the urgency to strengthen its midfield is very great, so Casemiro could be ideal.

A career in Europe full of titles for Casemiro

While much more was expected at Manchester United with the signing of Casemiro, it is important to note that the English club is not going through a good time and not everything was the Brazilian midfielder’s fault.

Before joining United, Casemiro had a historic spell at Real Madrid, where he won 18 titles, five of them the coveted Champions League. The midfielder established himself in the Spanish team and is a true legend, so despite not living up to expectations in the Premier League, the Brazilian leaves a giant legacy in Europe.

Casemiro’s titles with Real Madrid

  • 5 Champions League
  • 3 UEFA Super Cup
  • 3 Club World Cup
  • 3 Leagues
  • 3 Spanish Super Cups
  • 1 Copa del Rey
