During the week that is now coming to an end, it was revealed that Stephen Curry would remain out of action for ten more days due to the knee issue he has been dealing with. Because of that situation, and also due to the absence of Jimmy Butler, the Golden State Warriors have looked significantly weakened in their recent NBA games.
The Warriors are clearly missing the strength and efficiency that their two biggest stars bring when they are on the court. Without them contributing the firepower needed to secure victories, the team’s chances of reaching the play-in tournament appear to be slipping away little by little.
However, looking ahead to next season, it seems that optimism may be beginning to emerge, as the franchise appears to be eyeing a potential reinforcement who could help restore the greatness the team enjoyed just a few years ago.
Will Giannis Antetokounmpo arrive at the Golden State Warriors?
This week, there was renewed discussion about a very real possibility that the Greek star from the Milwaukee Bucks could be transferred to the West Coast and form a formidable partnership with Curry in Golden State.
According to information shared by NBA insider Marc J. Spears during an appearance on the program 95.7 The Game, the European superstar was the only player who does not belong to the Warriors who attended the party organized by Stephen Curry during All-Star festivities.
Steph knows that they’re gonna try to do everything in their power to get somebody big…It’s interesting we’re in [Splash] because I went to Steph Curry’s All-Star party. There was only one non-Warriors that came: Giannis.
Spears said.
For many observers around the league, it is no secret that Giannis has been on the Warriors’ radar for quite some time. Because of that, this gathering between the Bucks’ franchise player and members of the Golden State roster could be interpreted as a subtle sign pointing toward the possibility of playing together in the future.
Still, it has also been reported that the Bucks have little intention of trading their superstar, at least for now. Everything could ultimately depend on what happens during the summer and whether circumstances align to make a blockbuster move possible.
If such a deal were to materialize, it would instantly become one of the most impactful transactions in recent NBA history.
For the moment, head coach Steve Kerr continues trying to keep his team competitive and searching for consistency in the win column despite the current absences affecting the roster.
As the season moves forward, Kerr has made it clear that the organization does not want to consider the possibility of shutting down its best player for the remainder of the campaign.
Absolutely not. That hasn’t been a conversation.
Aseguró Kerr.
With that statement, it is evident the team still believes there is a chance to remain in the race and at least become a contender for a postseason spot, even though the road ahead currently looks quite complicated for the Warriors.
