Shohei Ohtani’s gesture that seems to mock Drake and the Blue Jays after the World Series

Shohei Ohtani was once again the protagonist off the field after winning the 2025 World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Japanese star set social media alight with a gesture on social media that fans interpreted as a mockery of Drake and the Toronto Blue Jays.

For the second year in a row, the Los Angeles Angels won the World Series, this time after an intense seven-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Canadian team came within inches of winning its first crown since 1993, but the talent of Shohei Ohtani made the difference.

The Japanese was key in the championship, especially in Game 3, when he reached base nine times and hit two home runs in a marathon 18-inning game. It was a performance that sealed his status as a true living legend of modern baseball.

Ohtani sends subtle message with dedication to Drake on social media

During the victory parade in downtown Los Angeles,Ohtani not only thanked the fans, but also made it clear that his ambition does not stop:

“I’m already thinking about the third time we’ll do it,” he said with a laugh, referring to the possibility of a third championship.

But what gave the most to talk about was not his speech, but his publication on social networks after the celebration. In a carousel of photos of the parade with his wife, Mamiko, Ohtani chose as background music the song “Not Like Us“ by Kendrick Lamar.

The detail did not go unnoticed, as the song is widely known as a “diss track” towards Drake, the Canadian rapper and declared fan of the Blue Jays. Fans were quick to interpret the gesture as a direct joke towards the artist and the Toronto team, especially after the painful defeat in the World Series.

Even his teammate Kike Hernandez joined in on the joke with a similar post, which ended up lighting up social media even more.

The Dodgers and Ohtani look to make MLB history

Although for some it was a gesture of humor and for others a provocation, the truth is that Ohtani and the Dodgers have plenty of reasons to celebrate. With this title, they become the first team to achieve back-to-back championships since the Yankees in 2000.

The Japanese star, in addition to his dominance on the field, has shown charisma and connection with the fans. And if his musical message was really a hint to Drake and the Blue Jays, the timing could not have been more perfect.

Next season, the Dodgers will be looking to make history with a three-peat, and with Ohtani leading the way, no one is betting against them.
