Serena and Venus Williams will take to the same tennis court together again… four years later. The Americans, who have also returned to the tour in the singles draws, have received an invitation from the organizers of the upcoming WTA 1000 in Cincinnati, which will be played from August 13 to 23, the last event before the final Grand Slam of the season.
The last time the Williams sisters played together in doubles was precisely at the 2022 US Open, where they lost to the Czechs Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova. Both players had to withdraw from the doubles draw at last Wimbledon due to Serena’s knee injury.
SerenSerena and Venus have 14 Grand Slam doubles titles on their record between 1999 and 2016, as well as three gold medals at the Olympic Games (2000, 2008 and 2012).
Venus Williams, now ranked No. 667, has also received a wild card for the singles draw. So far, she has lost the ten matches she has played this year and is on a 13-match losing streak.
