Among the claims was an allegation that, in 2015, Mickelson attempted to seduce the wife of fellow professional golfer Pat Perez by sending a nude photograph of himself.
Those reports generated widespread discussion throughout the golf world, although Mickelson has not publicly addressed the specific allegations in detail.
Following Shipnuck’s article, a spokeswoman representing Mickelson released a statement highlighting Amy’s longstanding support for her husband.
“Throughout their 35-year relationship,” the statement said, Amy “has supported Mr. Mickelson and their family with extraordinary grace, unwavering love, and the belief that people are measured not only by their failures, but by what they do to make them right.”
That statement remains one of the few public comments made on behalf of the family since the controversy emerged.
Phil and Amy Mickelson have been married since 1996 and have three children together. Throughout Mickelson’s Hall of Fame career, Amy became one of the PGA Tour’s most recognizable spouses, particularly after overcoming breast cancer in 2009.
