Real Madrid player Raul Asencio rushed to hospital

Asencio has had to go to a hospital for tests after in recent days has worsened from gastroenteritis that drags and that already prevented him from traveling to Munich last Tuesday. As reported by COPE, the central defender has gone to a hospital to be tested, after losing six kilos after several days of vomiting.

Last Tuesday, the absence of the defender from the squad for the second leg against Bayern came as a surprise, but immediately afterwards the club announced that his absence was due to gastroenteritis. The player, visibly upset, had left the training session before the trip and the next day it was impossible for him to be at the orders of Arbeloa. Since then, far from improving, he has been getting worse and finally the decision has been made for him to go to hospital for tests. After the tests, the player returned home to continue his recovery.

It is the fourth time this season that Asencio has been sidelined by a viral or digestive process. At the end of November, he missed the trip to Montilivi due to gastroenteritis, at a time when he was the only pure central defender available to the team, with David Alaba and Rafael Huijsen injured and Antonio Rudiger just recovered. In December, a febrile illness ruled him out of the Copa del Rey against Talavera at the last minute. In February, flu prevented him from training two days before the visit of Real Sociedad, although on that occasion he did manage to play.

A case reminiscent of Mbappe

A situation that Asencio is going through that is very similar to the one suffered by Kylian Mbappe at the Club World Cup last season. The Frenchman had to go urgently to a hospital in Miami due to an acute gastroenteritis to carry out different tests and apply the corresponding treatment. An illness that left him out of action for several days and prevented him from playing the first three matches of the World Cup, after being left very weak and, as in Asencio’s case, losing a lot of weight.
