Real Madrid and Barcelona face challenging moment in Champions League

While in LaLiga, FC Barcelona has managed to take the lead and set the pace at the top, the story changes when the scenario is different. Not because the level disappears, but because the demands are different and what has already been done is not always enough.

That’s where the Champions League comes in.

Both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona go into their second leg quarter-final matches with a similar feeling: what they did in the first leg was not enough to have a safe place in the next round

In Madrid’s case, the 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu left an open tie, but with the need to respond in a different scenario. The goal in the final minutes kept the team in a less adverse situation, although there was no room for complacency. Now, in Munich, the team will have to change history on Wednesday, April 15, when the second leg is played at the Allianz Arena; otherwise, the team will be eliminated.

On the other hand, Barcelona faces an even more demanding challenge.

The 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid at home changed the outlook completely. Not only because of the result, but also because of what it forces them to do in the return leg: to go out and look for the game from the start and score as many goals as possible on Tuesday, April 14 in Madrid; otherwise, the team would be eliminated, although it could still maintain its good form in LaLiga.

Thus, what seems to be taking shape in LaLiga is reopening in the Champions League.

Because at this stage there is not much room to think about what has already been done. Everything depends on what happens in the next game.
