Pete Alonso is being clearly ignored after Juan Soto’s comments about Aaron Judge according to an analyst

The New York Mets are currently the leaders of the National League West Division at the start of the 2025 MLB season, but several problems surround the team.

The arrival of Dominican Juan Soto to the New York Yankees and his initial difficulties have not been entirely positive, especially after Soto added fuel to the fire with his comment about Aaron Judge as the best hitter in all of Major League Baseball, something that several fans of the Queens team were not happy about.

On the other hand, Pete Alonso is doing a fantastic job supporting Soto. Many feel that Soto’s opinion of Judge was unnecessary and defamed Alonso.

This season, Judge remains the batting leader with a high .384, in addition to 7 home runs and 22 RBIs, while Alonso has a batting average of .348, with 5 home runs and 21 RBIs.

Soto has had a very slow start and has a percentage of .225, with three home runs and eight runs produced.

Criticism of Soto’s comments for belittling Alonso

One of those who went against the Dominican’s words was WFAN host Sal Licata, who has been actively involved in these conversations and launched a harsh criticism of Soto for his slow start, and several fans felt that he was exaggerating.

As if that wasn’t enough, the WFAN host criticized the Mets fans themselves for their reaction, saying it all comes down to Soto, and Licata feels that Alonso is being overlooked despite his excellent performance.

“There’s no way Pete Alonso is the Most Valuable Player (MVP), but with Soto it’s only 20 games. Why can’t the same Mets fans who say we’re ridiculous for criticizing Soto for only 20 games? Include Pete Alonso in the MVP conversation after only 20 games?” Licata said.

The WFAN host also compared Ben Rice and Paul Goldschmidt of the Yankees. Licata had no hesitation in stating that Alonso has been excellent, but that he is not getting the recognition he deserves from Mets fans.
