A saying goes that he who says goodbye a lot does not want to leave. It applies perfectly to Pete Alonso and his departure from the Mets. After being introduced to his new team, the Orioles, the slugger attended A.J. Minter’s wedding with his wife, Haley. He is taking advantage of his last moments with his now former teammates.

The batter attended the pitcher’s wedding celebration to close his final chapter with the New York team and with those players who will no longer be an integral part of his daily life with the move to Baltimore.

Minter, who spent his first season with the Mets in 2025 and posted a 1.64 ERA in just 13 games, married Anna Hardee after the pitcher proposed to her on January 2.

I always dreamed of this day, but honestly I wasn’t sure it would ever come. However, God’s timing is always perfect. I can say with complete certainty that I am the luckiest man in the world. I found my soulmate, my best friend and the love of my life

A.J. Minter

Alonso, who maintains a good relationship with Minter, did not want to miss the celebration. He also wanted to enjoy a special moment of nostalgia and melancholy for him, because he had become accustomed to his world revolving around the Mets, something that changed when he was acquired by the Orioles for $155 million.

In addition to the stories shared on his Instagram account, Pete left the post of the brief letter through which he says goodbye to the Mets fans to thank them for so much affection they showed him.

New York, thank you. These last few years have shaped me in ways that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. This city demands the best of you and I am proud to be able to say that I gave everything I had to earn the privilege of wearing that uniform. Thank you for the passion. Thank you for the love. Even for that tough love that comes with playing in New York. You believed in me and made me better. With love, Polar Bear

A day before attending Minter’s wedding, the strong batting arm was officially unveiled as Oriol’s new signing. There he said he had no hesitation in switching teams to take on a new challenge and a new adventure elsewhere.

The Post’s Joel Sherman reported that the Mets did not make Alonso a contract offer when the hitter made it very clear that he was looking for a $100 million contract and was not willing to go below that figure.

Happy in his new home, Alonso said he is looking forward to giving his best with the number 25 that he will wear with the team during the 2026 season.
