Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber could surprise with a chess move that benefits the Mets and Phillies

More than a wave of rumors, what happens in the offseason around the Mets is a real soap opera. From suspense to comedy, everything has happened with versions that place Pete Alonso in limbo, because it is said that he is leaving New York for Philadelphia, but at the same time nothing happens and uncertainty reigns. This melodrama involves Kyle Schwarber, who sounds out of the Phillies; however, there is no progress with him to be Alonso’s replacement. They, the players, would be the ones to make the master move with their future.

Alonso and Schwarber are two of the most sought-after free agents in this market. The problem is that the deadline is approaching and neither has solved their situation despite interest in them. Given the urgency, the most viable and beneficial option for all parties is a chess move that no one saw coming.

Alonso was willing to stay with the Mets in exchange for a good contract, which did not happen. The franchise offered him much less than he would receive on another team. Something similar happened with Schwarber. He is comfortable with the Phillies, but there was also no considerable agreement to convince him. With interest from other organizations for them, Boston, for example, Pete and Kyle were confident that they would already be traded by now. They failed in their prediction.

Due to these circumstances, Jayson Stark of The Athletic suggested that the most suitable arrangement would be for the star hitters to make a “swap”, that is, for Alonso to go to the Phillies and Schwarber to go to the Mets. Unbelievable but true, Kyle would receive in New York a little more than what is offered in Philadelphia and Pete would have better numbers in Philadelphia than in New York.

I imagine a situation where the Phillies end up signing Pete Alonso, which would really be the most hilarious answer

Jason Stark (The Athletic)

Schwarber and Alonso are sought after for their home run power. As free agents, the value of their batting strength exceeds $100 million, an amount that so far none of the interested franchises have put on the table to negotiate. Everything has been verbal, but nothing concrete, and time is running out.

Would they sit down to talk to each other?

Between jokes, there is a version that Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber could hold a meeting to agree on a transfer between them and talk with their organizations to convince them that it is the best deal with the trade deadline approaching.
