Mookie Betts’ wife ‘pulls’ husband from Team USA for 2026 World Baseball Classic

Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder and second baseman in Major League Baseball, Markus Lynn Betts, better known as Mookie Betts, will not play for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic 2026 on the orders of his wife, Brianna Hammonds, for a very powerful reason.

During a live interview at a gym, Mookie Betts confirmed his absence by commenting that if he did decide to go, his wife might ask him for a divorce.

MLB player Mookie Betts and his wife Brianna Hammonds love story began when they were young. The Dodgers right fielder met Hammonds in high school and they started dating. They married in 2021 after welcoming their first daughter, Kynlee Ivory Betts, in 2018 and in April 2023, Brianna gave birth to their first son, whom they named Kaj Lynn Betts

Betts was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2011 and made his MLB debut in 2014. To this day, they are a happy couple and family who stick together in the most important moments

One of the key figures for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Mookie Betts, surprised all MLB fans by announcing his resounding no to participate in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The right fielder, through a live broadcast with Adin Roos, a renowned American streamer, dropped the bombshell of his absence for the tournament.

Beth and his wife Brianna Hammonds are expecting the birth of their third child and the due date is during the tournament so it is impossible for him to be part of the TEAM USA. In a tone that mixes humor seriousness and nervous laughter Betts commented on what his wife told him if he ever said he was going to the tournament.
