In the Italian press, there was speculation that Massimiliano Allegri, current coach of AC Milan, could be one of the candidates on Florentino Perez’s list to coach Real Madrid next season. This option fueled the rumor that Luka Modric (40 years old) would be a requirement for Allegri to sit on the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu, opening the door to the return of the Croatian genius to Real Madrid accompanied by French midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Allegri and I at Real Madrid? The rumours are always there, but I’m not interested
In Germany, the newspaper ‘Bild’ reports that Madrid would consider the return of Modric to recover a leader in the dressing room and on the field.
I’m very happy here in Milan
But Luka Modric has quickly taken it upon himself to quash the rumour of his supposed return to Madrid.
“Allegri and I at Real Madrid? The rumours are always there, but I’m not interested. I’m very happy here in Milan,” he said in words reproduced by Madrid Xtra, dismissing the rumours.
Luka Modric left Real Madrid this summer after 13 years in which he won, among other titles, six Champions League and four LaLiga titles.
In his first few months in Milan, the Croatian, who has signed until the end of the season with an option for a further year, has played 30 games (2,324 minutes), scoring two goals and providing three assists.
