Luka Doncic‘s birthday celebrations took a playful turn when he interrupted Austin Reaves‘ interview by tossing towels at his face, and the unexpected reaction quickly became the real talking point of the night.

Fresh off a dominant win over the Golden State Warriors for the Los Angeles Lakers, Doncic had already joked publicly about his teammates forgetting his birthday, and during an on-court interview he leaned into the storyline for comic effect.

“Nobody gave me a gift yet, it’s crazy,” Doncic said, the remark clearly tongue-in-cheek, as it set the tone for what followed.

Because later in the locker room the lighthearted teasing escalated into a spontaneous interruption.

As Reaves began addressing reporters at his locker, Doncic suddenly stepped in, and without hesitation he launched two towels toward his teammate’s face, briefly hijacking the interview.

Rather than bristle, Reaves instantly responded, and his comeback drew laughter from those gathered around the scrum, reinforcing the playful dynamic between the two guards.

“I actually got you a present, you freaking idiot,” Reaves said back, light-heartedly. While the exchange appeared chaotic on the surface, it actually highlighted the growing comfort within the Lakers‘ locker room,

There, confidence and chemistry are starting to align as the team prepares to charge towards the NBA Playoffs in the Western Conference.

Lakers breeze past Steph Curry-less Golden State Warriors

The playful scenes followed a commanding 129-101 victory, as Los Angeles controlled the tempo early and never allowed Golden State to establish any offensive rhythm.

Doncic led the charge with 26 points, eight assists and six rebounds, and in doing so he dictated pace, created space for teammates, and consistently punished defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, LeBron James orchestrated the offense with precision, adding 22 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, while also connecting on four three-pointers to stretch the floor.

Reaves complemented the stars efficiently, scoring 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and contributing three assists, and his energy off the ball kept the defense shifting.

Golden State, however, struggled badly without key contributors, and after opening 2-for-17 from beyond the arc they found themselves chasing the game from the outset.

Los Angeles capitalized quickly, hitting 12 of its first 21 attempts, including five three-pointers, and that early burst created a cushion that proved decisive.

As the lead ballooned, the Lakers maintained composure, snapped a three-game skid, and regained momentum, now with morale high and performances tightening across the rotation, the combination of production and personality suggests this group is beginning to peak.

The Lakers now look ahead to a clash with the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, March 1 as they look for their 36th win of the year, whilst the Warriors welcome the Los Angeles Clippers on March 2 chasing down their 32nd win of the year.
