After a long wait, fans got to see Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever back in action this Saturday in their preseason opener against the New York Liberty at the Barclays Center, where Stephanie White’s team won 109-91.
This was the 29-year-old point guard’s first game since August of last year, when she suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in her right knee. But off the court, she also drew attention by reacting to a post by Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The NFL star and his wife attended the Stagecoach Music Festival in the Coachella Valley on Friday, and their outfits didn’t go unnoticed by their fans-or by the Fever point guard.
On her official Instagram account, Brittany shared 12 photos showcasing her experience at the festival as well as the outfits she and her husband chose.
The QB paired brown pants with a white shirt, brown shoes, and a brown hat. Bri wore a white corset-style top paired with ruffled lace shorts in the same color and completed her look with cream-colored knee-high cowboy boots and a black cowboy hat.
“In my element,” wrote the former soccer player. Fans quickly chimed in on the post’s comments section, where Sophie stole the show by commenting directly on the outfit of the actress and mother of three:
“damn ma,” wrote the WNBA star alongside a cowboy emoji and a fire emoji.
As for her basketball career, Cunningham tallied 13 points, two rebounds, one assist, and three three-pointers in just 14 minutes of play, marking a strong return to the court.
Now, the Indiana Fever will face the Dallas Wings on Thursday, April 30, in a home game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse before kicking off the regular season on Friday, May 8, once again against Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd, and company.
So, as she prepares for a new season in the WNBA, Sophie continues to make waves off the court with these kinds of viral interactions.
