Lionel Messi practically admits he’s the GOAT in hype video before 2026 FIFA World Cup

For many soccer fans, the GOAT debate was settled long ago. Even before Lionel Messi secured any international trophy with Argentina, his otherworldly production and playing style made him the best-ever in the eyes of many. Then the national team accolades started pouring in.

The 2021 Copa America, the Finalissima, the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2024 Copa America have left no room for discussion in the debate. There may be people who prefer Cristiano Ronaldo, Pele or Diego Maradona, but the argument for Messi is easier than ever. And it seems like even he knows it.

Messi has long been humble and grounded when it comes to discussing his place on all-time lists. He has always said he cares more about winning for his team than any individual recognition. But in a new ad for Adidas and his Team Messi brand, Messi stayed silent as he let a literal GOAT do the talking.

Lionel Messi’s new Adidas ad pairs him with a GOAT on top of a mountain

Published on his Instagram page in collaboration with Adidas Football, Messi sits atop the peak of a mountain in a “thinking man” pose. Right behind him, a goat climbs the mountain.

The advertisement appears to be for a new line of gold-colored items for his brand. The caption reads: “The golden hour at its peak“.

The new post has Argentinians getting hyped up for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. Messi may be staying silent about his intentions to play at the tournament, but it’s clear he still feels golden and on top of his game.
