Lamine Yamal speaks out after Barcelona’s loss to issue a warning: “This Isn’t Over”

Lamine Yamal has broken his silence following Barcelona‘s tough 0-2 loss to Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals. Goals by Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sorloth have put Barça on the brink, where the only way to advance to the semifinals is to get a win.

A draw would send the series to extra time, but if they want to avoid that, they’ll have to win by a margin of three goals or more. Difficult, but not impossible. And Yamal has made that clear.

Yamal sends a message to the Barça fans

Barça played with one fewer player starting in the 44th minute and throughout the entire second half due to Pau Cubarsí’s red card. A minute later, Atlético Madrid scored their first goal on a free kick. Álvarez nailed it into the corner to make it 1-0.

In the 70th minute, Sorloth appeared in the Barcelona box and capitalized on a cross sent in by Matteo Ruggeri from the left flank.

With the final score 0-2, the 18-year-old-who has become one of the standout players on Hansi Flick’s team-did not hide his pain over the defeat handed down by Cholo Simeone’s side.

After the match, he looked dejected, disappointed, and angry about the result, pondering for several minutes on the Camp Nou pitch. However, 12 hours after the defeat, Lamine rose like a phoenix to send a message of hope to the Culé fans and a promise:

“This isn’t over, Culers. We’ll give it our all in the second leg. Tots units, sempre,” Yamal wrote on his official Instagram account alongside a photo of himself at the end of the match, where he can be seen crouching and exhausted.

And the fans were quick to respond: “You’re number 1, we’re counting on the comeback,” said one of them. “Thank you for giving your SOUL for this club,” commented another. “We are with you, we love you in victory and defeat,” assured a third fan.

“I trust in your magic, Lamine Yamal, let’s go all out,” added another follower. “With you, I’ll go to the ends of the earth,” another user let him know.

The message is clear: don’t give up. Now, looking ahead to the second leg, Atlético Madrid will try to defend their 2-0 lead from the first leg at home when they host Lamine Yamal and company at the Metropolitano on April 14, as the visitors fight for a comeback.
