Lamine Yamal sends strong message ahead of Atlético Madrid second leg: “If we get eliminated…”

Following the bitter 0-2 result at the Spotify Camp Nou in the first leg against Atlético Madrid, Barcelona will head to the Metropolitano in search of a comeback to avoid elimination from the competition.

Both teams are analyzing all possible scenarios, including a potential end to their dream of lifting the coveted trophy. And it was in light of this possibility that Barça’s young star, Lamine Yamal, made his stance clear.

Yamal’s Strong Message

Goals by Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sorloth in the first leg put Lamine and Barça on the brink, as they must now keep a clean sheet and win by a margin of three goals or more in the second leg on Tuesday, April 14, or score at least two goals to force extra time and a penalty shootout. Difficult, but not impossible.

However, at the pre-match press conference, the 18-year-old sent a strong message of calm, confidence, and determination to all the fans:

“We promise that if we are eliminated, it will be after fighting until the very end. We won’t let a single minute go by without giving it our all, without running. We’ll give everything for this crest.

Furthermore, the forward expressed optimism about the chances of turning the situation around, conveying conviction and absolute commitment:

“I think it will be a 90-minute game or longer because we’re certain this isn’t over. I believe a comeback is very possible, and that’s why we’re here,” added Yamal.

Ahead of a decisive match, Lamine has taken center stage not only on the field but also off it, setting the emotional tone with which the team will face Cholo Simeone’s side and reaffirming not only his teammates’ ambition but also the conviction that there is still much to play for.

Atlético Madrid and Barcelona will face off on April 14 at the Metropolitano for a spot in the Champions League semifinals. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 PM ET, where the “Colchoneros” will try to defend their lead and take advantage of their home-field advantage, while the Azulgranas will fight to overturn their defeat at Camp Nou.
