Jermall Charlo given options for fight against Canelo Alvarez: “Think about that bag”

After his impressive knockout against Thomas LaManna, Jermall Charlo has shown that he is at an optimal level to think about challenging Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, at least that is the perception of several boxing specialists, including Timothy Bradley.

Bradley mentioned, through his YouTube channel, that Charlo looked comfortable at super middleweight, so if he stays focused, he could be considered to face a bigger name fighter like the Mexican.

Jermall came back and looked decent in this fight. I expected him to get this win by knockout. He came in shape and got the job done. Jermall, if you stay focused, you still have some energy left. You can still do something at 168 pounds,” he added.

“Even you could get that fight against Canelo. Think about it: that bag against Canelo. Get on that Turki card. It’s something to consider. If that doesn’t motivate you and keep you on the right track, then I don’t know what will,” said Bradley.

With this victory, Charlo has a record of 34 victories, 23 of them by knockout, so the spectacle would seem to be assured.

When will Jermall Charlo vs Canelo Alvarez fight?

This hypothetical matchup, while still a long way from being confirmed, was suggested as far back as 2023, when it was Jermall’s brother, Jermell, who faced Saul Alvarez

Since then, Jermall has sought to face him, but his lack of rhythm, as well as various personal problems, have prevented him from doing so. Now that the American has begun to regain his rhythm, it is very likely that this fight will be more feasible.

However, before facing the undisputed super middleweight champion, Jermall Charlo will have to look for one more opponent to convince that he has regained his rhythm and that he is the right opponent to face Canelo. Among the list of possible contenders are several names, including Edgar Berlanga, Hamzah Sheeraz, Christian Mbilli, Diego Pacheco, Bektemir Melikuziev, Bruno Surace and Darius Fulghum.

When is Canelo Alvarez’s next fight?

However, Jermall Charlo will have to wait in line if he wants to face Canelo, as the Mexican fighter’s next fight will be against Terence Crawford on September 13, which is only the second of four fights in the contract with Turki Alalshikh, although his last two opponents in that contract have not yet been revealed.
