James Rodriguez ended his contract with Leon and his goal was to stay in Liga MX to get in good shape for the 2026 World Cup with Colombia.

There were rumors with Pumas and Cruz Azul, but the weeks went by and nothing happened and now it seems that his future will no longer be in Mexico.

James could reach MLS

While there was speculation about teams in Mexico City, there was also interest from MLS teams for the Colombian and he looks set to head to the United States.

According to journalist Oscar Ostos, James Rodriguez is close to reaching an agreement with Columbus Crew, a team that is currently looking for a coach after its coach Wilfried Nancy was hired by Celtic of Scotland, where they also considered Efrain Juarez for the position

Columbus is the third most successful team in Major League Soccer with three titles and is competing with Orlando City for the signing of James.

James Rodriguez an option in Brazil

The former Real Madrid player has also been linked with teams in the Brazilian Serie A, where James Rodriguez already played with Sao Paulo in 2023 and 2024, but his spell was not a good one with just 14 games with one goal and two assists.

There was talk of the possibility of him joining Santos, where Neymar is leaving after helping to save the team from relegation, but it also emerged that the team is not interested.
