Inter Miami closing in on $15 million move for Liga MX star to help Lionel Messi in attack

It looks as though Argentine born German Berterame is nearing the end of his time with CF Monterrey, as reports are linking him with a move to Inter Miami ahead of the next MLS season.

Sources close to the situation suggest that negotiations could take off in the coming hours, making Berterame one of the most notable potential transfers involving Mexican football this year.

Inter Miami is believed to have submitted an offer valued at around $15 million in order to land their target. Monterrey’s board is reportedly weighing the proposal carefully, knowing Berterame‘s importance to the team while also recognizing the financial impact a sale would bring.

Inter Miami’s plan is to sign Berterame outright, reflecting the club’s desire to secure a long-term attacking option rather than a short-term solution, as they are confident in the Argentine’s ability to adapt quickly to Major League Soccer.

One of the most notable parts of the story is the reported involvement of Lionel Messi. According to local media, the global superstar personally endorsed Berterame as a target and encouraged Inter Miami’s management to pursue the striker as part of their ongoing bid to strengthen the side.

The chance to work alongside Messi and other high-profile teammates could be decisive in Berterame‘s decision, especially as he weighs up what to do with the next stage of his career.

Berterame’s potential impact

During his time in Liga MX, Berterame has built a reputation as a consistent and versatile forward. His movement inside the box and finishing ability has made him one of Monterrey’s most reliable attackers, often delivering in high-pressure matches.

A move to MLS would offer a fresh challenge and a chance for Berterame to continue his development. While the league continues to grow in competitiveness, it would also allow him to tap into a new fanbase given how much attention anyone who plays alongside Messi receives.

For Inter Miami, securing Berterame would strengthen a squad already built around creativity and star power. His presence could provide another option in attack, giving the team a dependable finisher capable of converting chances created by its elite playmakers in Messi and Rodrigo De Paul.

Monterrey, meanwhile, faces a tough decision. Accepting the offer would deliver a major financial boost and allow them to strengthen the side, but replacing Berterame‘s production and leadership wouldn’t be straightforward.

As talks continue, no official announcement has been made by either club. However, momentum appears to be growing towards the move happening, and if finalized, would mean another big signing for Inter Miami.
