Inter Miami accelerates for another Argentine, who won the Copa America with Messi

After tasting the sweet taste of glory for the first time with their historic MLS title, Inter Miami are already thinking about future successes and know that in order to achieve this, they will have to make up for the absences left by the departure of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

While the left-back position will be filled by Sergio Reguilon, in the midfield it seems that it will be another Argentine who will reinforce the midfield of the Herons.

Inter Miami interested in Giovani Lo Celso

Inter Miami’s project is clearly aligned with the idea of surrounding Messi with players with whom he already has chemistry on and off the pitch. With Busquets’ absence, the priority is to find a proven and guaranteed midfielder and Giovani Lo Celso fits perfectly with this profile. Although he is a player with more attacking characteristics, compared to the Spanish ‘5’, in the Albiceleste team he is used to playing further back, together with De Paul, giving up the ’10’ position to Leo, exactly the same scenario that he would find in Miami, which is why he seems the ideal option for Javier Mascherano.

Lo Celso is currently playing for Real Betis and is under contract until 2028. But according to information from ElCorreo de Andalucia, Inter Miami’s interest is concrete and responds to a clear need to add a top-class player to seek to retain the MLS title and compete strongly in the Concachampions.

Where will Lo Celso play next season?

The Argentine midfielder had an outstanding breakthrough after his return to Betis in 2024, with eight goals in just three months between LaLiga and European competitions. However, the start of 2025 was not as solid. Muscle problems limited his continuity and reduced his presence in the starting eleven.

Even so, when he was available, he responded at key moments with decisive goals, a profile that fits with what Inter Miami is looking for: players capable of making a difference in tight games.

Lo Celso is an important player for Betis, however, from the Spanish club’s perspective, a sale above five million euros would free up salary space and facilitate the arrival of attacking reinforcements. From the player’s point of view, MLS appears to be an attractive option, especially in the context of the 2026 World Cup.

Playing in North America, with continuity and surrounded by national teammates, including Messi, with a good salary is a scenario that the player would see with good eyes before a formal offer.

The Herons are looking to get ahead of the game and deliver another strategic blow that will keep them at the top and as one of the most attractive projects on the continent.
