After becoming the first Korean positional player to earn a ring in his rookie season, Hye-seong Kim traveled to South Korea to celebrate with his family the conquest ofthe World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. In a movie-worthy situation, the baseball player was greeted with a peculiar protest at Incheon Airport.

He was met with a press conference organised at the airport terminal. In theory, there would only be media representatives. However, one man sneaked in to protest against the sportsman. Or rather, to claim an old debt from his father.

The man tried to display a banner demanding that Kim make amends for the financial damage he accused his father of. The player refused to continue with the question-and-answer session until there was order in the place and the man was removed. Security guards took care of the stranger.

During his plea, the stranger pointed out that the player’s father owes him the sum of 100 million won, an amount equivalent to $68,600. About this incident, Kim did not want to talk and concentrated on answering questions about his time with the Los Angeles team.

Is he really a stranger to Hye-seong Kim?

It is not the first time that the man has sought out the baseball player to demand that he pay what his father owes him. This is ‘Mr. Kim from Gocheok’, a character who has been harassing the athlete for seven years. His only goal is to ask him to take responsibility for his father’s outstanding accounts.

Insisting that the patriarch owes him a lot of money, the man used to bring signs to Kim’s games when he played for the Kiwoom Heroes in the KBO.

His constant protests prompted Hye-seong to take legal action, accusing him of defamation and requesting “severe punishment” towards him

Talk about the Dodgers and that’s it

Once the harassing demonstrator was controlled and monitored by airport security elements, the baseball player again attended to the press present to answer only those questions related to his adventure in MLB.

Just being on the dream stage of the World Series felt so good, and it was even better to be able to win on that stage.

Hye-seong Kim

Despite participating on the field for the final out that gave the Dodgers the title against the Blue Jays, Kim was self-critical of his performance this season. He rated himself “30 out of 100” to explain what his activity with the team was like.
