The 24-year-old Milan native went from playing in Serie D to lifting the MLS with Inter Miami. It all started in 2020 with an Instagram message. Five years later, Yannick Bright is celebrating titles with Leo Messi, whom he simply calls “Leo”. “Winning with him is incredible. If they had told me a few years ago, I would not have believed it,” he said with a laugh in words reported by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’.
The leap was total. From Arconatese to a dressing room full of stars. “I wondered what I was doing there, but I understood that I had no choice but to live up to it,” he confesses. And then came the meeting with Messi: “The first time I saw him I almost fainted. He is humble, with a special aura. Calm off the field, an animal on it.” In Miami he also learned from Busquets, Suarez and Jordi Alba: “Playing like Busquets is almost impossible. I remember Alba correcting me for a perfect pass because it didn’t come at the right speed.”
Bright, raised in Zibido San Giacomo, has earned his place with Beckham’s team. He thanks Mascherano “for his closeness and confidence” and speaks of Beckham as “pure motivation, he always comes to greet us one by one before the games”. From Florida he follows his brother Kevin, a player of Alcione Milano. “We are very close and because of him we are Milan fans. I hope one day we can play together,” he says. For the moment, his American dream is still alive… and alongside Messi.
