Enzo Fernandez is fed up with Chelsea and wants to play for Real Madrid, but his price is a problem

His name is not new among the echoes of the Spanish press that resonate in the corridors of information. Enzo Fernandez has been frequently linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent seasons, but it has all been a plan that has not materialized. More than a rumor, it is a signing that has not been possible.

When Toni Kroos retired, Carlo Ancelotti, then the Merengue’s technical director, asked the board to sign the Argentine world champion. His request was ignored. The same happened with Xabi Alonso, a coach who asked for him to replace the absence of Luka Modric. They did not listen to him either.

Now that Alvaro Arbeloa is at the helm and facing a critical period at the start of his tenure, the urgency to have Fernandez in the Madrid ranks is once again on the table. It is no longer a matter of luxury or taste, but of necessity to strengthen a midfield that lacks balance and strength.

To the above is added the player’s own desire to wear the Real Madrid shirt and to leave the Premier League, a tournament he suffers from for reasons off the pitch. He is also excited to play for the best team on the planet. However, his motivation to leave Chelsea comes from elsewhere.

A great player has been offered who would be quite good. He was the best young player at the World Cup in Qatar… We are talking about Enzo Fernandez… He is at Chelsea and fed up with London. London for an Argentine, with so much rain, he doesn’t like it very much. His dream is to play for Real Madrid

Eduardo Inda, journalist

Currently, these are Enzo Fernandez’s numbers with the Blues:

  • 150 matches
  • 27 goals
  • 27 assists

Beyond prestige, other factors to desire Real Madrid

Believe it or not, the weather in England is a factor to consider when thinking about the change. The cold, the rain and the absence of sun are something that weighs on Enzo, who is used to warm temperatures and less hostile environments in that sense.

According to Inda, Fernandez wants to follow the example of his friend Julian Alvarez. Having seen that ‘La AraƱa’ was able to reinvent his life for the better in Madrid with his arrival at Atletico, Enzo wants the same. On the one hand, Alvarez opted for football because he would have less activity at Manchester City with Erling Haaland in his prime. On the other hand, his privacy and personal condition were benefited in a city that offers him what most resembles his interests and satisfactions.

Enzo Fernandez and his market value

The Argentine is valued at 140 million euros. After winning the World Cup title at Qatar 2022, the midfielder was signed for 121 million euros that Chelsea paid Benfica for his transfer. Should Real Madrid go for him, it would be the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
