Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California, will be the venue for the fight between Mexican Emanuel ‘Vaquero’ Navarrete and Filipino Charly Suarez on Saturday, May 10, 12 rounds of pure power and wild punches in which the WBO super featherweight title will be at stake.
And while ‘Vaquero’ Navarrete is coming off a recent knockout victory over Oscar Valdez last December that made him forget his close and controversial defeat to Denys Berinchyk last year, his opponent boasts an unbeaten record of 18 fights without defeat, 10 of which he finished by knockout and the most recent with a TKO over Jorge Castañeda, so a high-octane fight is expected, of course driven by the possibility of the belt and a substantial purse.
How much will the protagonists of the fight earn?
As is customary in the boxing world, the figures have not been officially released, however, given the great expectation that the fight has raised since it was announced, there are some sources that venture to make calculations based on the previous earnings of the fighters, as well as with numbers from bookmakers and also from sponsorships or pay-per-view
The yardstick for Vaquero Navarrete is the rematch with Oscar Valdez, for which he received more than one million dollars, unlike the first one, for which he placed his earnings at more than two million, but a couple of unfortunate fights against Robson Conceicao and Berinchyk diminished his ‘poster’. For this reason, the purse for this new fight for the Mexican is estimated to reach one and a half million.
For his part, for the Filipino, the calculations are more conservative, although it is believed that he could take the biggest purse of his time in the ring, as his income could reach $800,000.
