Kristaps Porzingis injury update: Stephen Curry cannot believe the Warriors’ bad luck

Stephen Curry’s team has not had things go its way during the 2025-26 season. The roster looks more like a hospital ward than a basketball team. If it is not one player going down, it is another, and the cycle continues. The issue is that they have been unable to find stability to build a competitive lineup from one game to the next.

This past Friday, March 20, in the evening, just as they were expecting to celebrate the arrival of spring, the Detroit Pistons had other plans. The Western Conference squad ended up falling 115-101.

However, that was not all. Unfortunately, another Warriors player went down in the battle. Kristaps Porzingis had to leave the game because he was not at 100 percent of his capabilities on the court.

The injury of Kristaps Porzingis

The second quarter was underway when Kristaps had to leave the floor to be evaluated, and unfortunately, he was unable to return to continue supporting his teammates in this crucial matchup.

At that point, he had only recorded:

  • 5 points
  • 1-5 shooting
  • 3 rebounds
  • 2 blocks
  • 11 minutes played

Afterward, the player explained that he exited the game due to back spasms, which prevented him from continuing.

I kind of felt it in the first quarter, started spasming up a bit, and I tried to move.”…”And while I was warm, I was okay, but in that one play, I kind of felt a little spasm.

Porzingis

Porzingis said after the loss.

He later added that the injury began developing gradually and worsened over time, to the point where he could no longer continue playing, forcing him to step off the court to receive treatment for the issue.

Update on Kristaps Porziis’ health issue

Regarding the possibility of playing this Saturday, March 21, 2026, against the Atlanta Hawks, the 7-foot-3 player said he was not certain it would happen.

It’s a little tight now, a little tight now,” he said. “So also once I cool down and tighten up even more, but I’m gonna get goin on soon.

Porzingis

Based on how the player currently feels, it is most likely that he will not be available for this game, in order to avoid risking a more serious setback that could keep him off the court for a longer period.

Probably, we’ll see.”… “Maybe it loosens up tomorrow, but right now, it’s pretty stiff back.

Porzingis

The Warriors player expressed.

In Golden State, they hope this string of injuries comes to an end as soon as possible if they want to at least reach the play-in tournament.
