In the end, Charros failed when required and with a single run the Leones del Escogido of the Dominican Republic were crowned champions of the 2025 Caribbean Series.

In this way, the Dominican Republic won its 23rd Caribbean Series title and is crowned as the powerhouse of the event, while Mexico will have to wait another year to lift its tenth scepter.

The visiting squad was able to contain the Charros’ attack and only needed a grounder by Robinson Cano that sent Junior Lake to the plate to be crowned champions of Caribbean baseball.

Lions roared loudly in Mexico

The drama was felt until the last roll, when the Dominicans were on the verge of losing the lead, but their defense gave them the title against the favorites, Charros.

The Estadio Nido de los Aguilas was dressed in its best and everything indicated that the Charros de Jalisco were on their way to their 10th Caribbean Series title, with the support of Julio Cesar Chavez, who threw out the first pitch.

But Leones del Escogido had in the arm of Esmil Rogers one of their best weapons, containing the likes of Mike Hamilton and Jack Mayfield, who failed to drive the Guadalajara attack.

Leones del Escogido did not forgive and in the third inning they took the lead on the scoreboard with a double play grounder, in which Junior Lake entered the scoreboard and scored 1-0.

Charros did not take advantage in the attack and there were innings in which they left men on base, but the good relief work of Joe Corbett, Ulises Joaquin and Jimmy Cordero sentenced the game for the melenudos.

The winning pitcher was Esmil Rogers, who pitched six innings, allowing only one hit and striking out four. The loss went to Manny Banuelos, who allowed the game-winning run in the third inning. The Charros starter worked four innings, with three hits, one run, two strikeouts and three walks.

The Leones del Escogido were crowned for the fifth time as a club in the Caribbean Series, and gave their 23rd scepter to the Dominicans, who are consolidated as the powerhouse of baseball in the Caribbean.
