Djokovic sows doubt after his fall: “My body is not the same today as it was before”

Novak Djokovic’s scare in the last game against Cobolli would have remained just that, a scare, had it not been for the Serbian’s words after the match. “I managed to finish the match, but yes, I have to look at it more closely with my team and the physios,” he said… in a topic, that of a possible injury or discomfort, which he dealt with later in a press conference in a broader way

The Serbian had lifted a set against him and was on his way to victory in four sets. He was serving for it after more than three hours but Cobolli saved two match points, and the victory had to come at the third attempt. However, in that second saved match point, Novak slipped and let out a scream that froze Centre Court. The ghosts of Dimitrov’s injury returned two days later to the same scene.

Djokovic spoke about it at a press conference, updating his physical condition:

“As far as the fall goes, it was a very ugly fall. It was very uncomfortable. That happens on grass. I’ve had quite a few of those throughout my career on grass. Obviously, my body is not the same today as it was before, so I guess the real impact or effect of what happened I’ll feel tomorrow. We’ll see. I hope that in the next 24 or 48 hours the severity of what was happening on the track and what happened is not so serious and that I can play at my best and without pain in two days.”
