Djokovic on Sinner’s positive resolution: “A lot of people in the locker room think there is favoritism”

Novak Djokovic is an authoritative voice on the men’s circuit. The 24-time major champion has again spoken about the case of Jannik Sinner and the definitive resolution of the Italian’s positive test at Indian Wells for which he will have to be sidelined for three months, between February and May

“Inside the locker room, a majority of players are not happy with the way this process has been handled and think it’s not fair, that there is favoritism,” said the former world number one and president of the PTPA professional union

Djokovic also remembered Iga Swiatek’s positive test and the one-month suspension (December) when she was in preseason: “I’ve seen the news, the cases of Swiatek and Sinner have generated a lot of attention, it’s not a good image for our sport, that’s for sure. There is a consensus or a majority of players who express themselves in the locker room, and not only in recent days, that they are not satisfied with the way this process has been handled. Swiatek and Sinner are innocent until proven guilty”.
