Everything she does is newsworthy, even though she has not won a tournament since the 2021 US Open, her only professional crown. Emma Raducanu, 23, has left US multinational Nike to become the new global ambassador for Japanese brand Uniqlo. She is the first woman to have this role at the company and joins tennis players Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori. Uniqlo also sponsors Ayumu Hirano (snowboard) and golfer Adam Scott.

Raducanu stopped working at the end of January with Spaniard Francis Roig, who was her eighth coach in five years. She recently lost the final in Cluj-Napoca, which was her first since winning the US Open.

Speaks Chinese

Emma, the British number one in the ranking, is a big draw in the Asian market because of her physical features. She is of Chinese descent on her mother’s side and is fluent in Mandarin.

Among the brands she endorses are Evian, as is Carlos Alcaraz. The two of them starred in the pre-Wimbledon advert.

Her image is also associated with British Airways (airline), Vodafone (telephony), Tiffany and co (jewellery), Christian Dior (luxury clothing) and Wilson (racquets) and HSBC (bank).
