DeMarcus Cousins demands Steve Kerr’s dismissal for “self-sabotaging” the Warriors

Things in Golden State are far from calm, to say the least. Between player Jonathan Kuminga and the Warriors’ head coach, there appears to be an open war, and although necessity has forced Kerr to use him at times, the last two months have been filled with suffering for the young member of the team.

Many analysts and former players have spoken out about the situation surrounding the West Coast franchise. They cannot understand why Kuminga is not being used as much as necessary for the team to remain in contention for the championship.

Even after Jimmy Butler’s ACL injury occurred, Kerr went out and told the media that the team’s championship chances were over. Seriously? Kuminga is right there. Why does he refuse to use him? That is a question only Kerr himself can answer.

DeMarcus Cousins speaks out on the controversy between Steve Kerr and Jonathan Kuminga

The latest figure to enter the dispute between Kuminga and Kerr is former NBA player DeMarcus Cousins, who cannot find a reason why the coach continues to limit the young forward’s role.

Once again we’re overlooking it and kind of sweeping it under the rug. Like something has to be said, something has to be done as far as why do these type situations continue to happen under the watch of Steve Kerr when it comes to young talent?” wondered Cousins, per FanDuel’s Run It Back show, via Hoopshype.

Cousins did not stop there, as he also launched a sharp and venomous jab directly at Steve Kerr.

And this is a coach with an ego. We all know that. We know that.

Previously, the former NBA big man had also expressed that the best course of action would be for Kerr not to return for another season with the Warriors.

It is worth remembering that Cousins played under Kerr’s direction during the 2018-19 season, where he was a key piece for the team. He was even part of the roster that reached the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. After that run, he would leave the organization and bounce around several franchises over the next two years.

Jonathan Kuminga requested a trade

A few weeks ago, Jonathan Kuminga formally requested to be traded to another franchise. However, it appears that very few teams have shown genuine interest in bringing the player into their ranks.

With Butler’s injury set to sideline him for the remainder of the season, it would seem that an opportunity has opened for Kuminga to receive more minutes with the team. At this point, however, it feels like the situation may already be beyond repair.

This Thursday, November 22, 2026, the Warriors will face a team that is also looking to return to its glory days: the Dallas Mavericks. Throughout the season, Dallas has struggled to find consistency, making this matchup particularly significant.

In addition, the Mavericks will feature a familiar face. Klay Thompson will take the floor against his former teammates, and it is obvious that he will be eager to defeat them by unleashing the full extent of his talent on the hardwood.
