Bill Haney reopens old wounds involving Oscar De La Hoya in Ryan Garcia’s ostarine positive

The scandal over the use of Ostarine that marred the fight between Garcia and Devin Haney continues, as Bill Haney, father and manager of Devin Haney, does not give Garcia a break and through social networks, has again lashed out at the boxer and his promoter Oscar De La Hoya.

The conflict resurfaced right after the Fatal Fury event in New York, where Garcia fell to Rolando Romero, despite fighting with a hand injury that later required surgery. Garcia himself later admitted that he had made a mistake in his decision-making, commenting that he “should have canceled the fight”. However, he has now shown himself to be focused on the future, concentrating on his recovery.

However, Bill Haney does not forget. The father of undefeated champion Devin Haney has been one of the most persistent critics since the positive test for Ostarine was revealed after the fight between the two in April 2024, where Garcia managed to knock down Devin three times

When is Ryan Garcia’s next fight?

Oscar de la Hoya said about a possible return for Ryan Garcia next year: “He hasn’t lost anything. He has to fix his injuries, but most importantly, he has to sort out his life. I lived it. Everybody is telling him things. He has to breathe, take a step back, analyze and reorganize his life. It’s just my opinion,” he said, adding: “I hope he takes the year off.”

But for Bill Haney, the message of understanding was not well received. Sarcastically, he wrote “Ostarine Break?” next to De La Hoya’s quote, suggesting that Ryan’s break is not just about mental health or injury, but about the doping scandal.

Who beat Ryan Garcia?

Rolly Romero clearly dominated Garcia, showing that Ryan was not at his best and the statistics confirm this: he barely threw 17.5 punches per round and landed only 48 power punches in the entire fight.

Days later, he explained that his poor performance was due to an injury to his right hand. Ryan Garcia underwent surgery with renowned specialist Stephen Shin, who is known for treating boxers such as Canelo Alvarez and Vasyl Lomachenko.

Now, Garcia is focused on his recovery, and has shared a photo on social media of his newly operated hand with the caption “I’ll be back”.
