Barcelona player suffers brutal blow and ends up bloodied in match against Atlético Madrid

The clash between FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid produced one of the most disturbing moments of the Champions League night, as Fermín López was left with a bloodied face after a direct collision with goalkeeper Juan Musso. The play immediately raised concern across the pitch due to how graphic the scene looked.

It all happened when the Barcelona midfielder went up to challenge for an aerial ball inside the box. In that split second, Musso came out aggressively and his studs made direct contact with Fermín’s face. The player dropped to the ground as blood became clearly visible, forcing the match to stop for several minutes while medical staff rushed in to treat him.

A heavy collision that stopped the game

The moment was so intense that several players struggled to watch. Lamine Yamal stayed away from the scene, sitting near the corner flag with the ball while waiting for play to resume. On the bench, Barcelona’s staff reviewed the incident on a tablet, trying to assess how serious the impact had been. Despite everything, Fermín managed to return to the game after treatment, showing toughness and composure.

Barcelona went on to secure a 2-1 win on the night, but it wasn’t enough to advance, as Atlético Madrid moved on with a 3-2 aggregate score and continues its push for the Champions League title.

It was a heavy collision, defined by the goalkeeper’s studs striking directly to the player’s face. The scene caused immediate concern as blood poured from his nose, but everything shifted when Fermín returned to the pitch. That moment brought relief and confirmed that, despite how frightening it looked, he is in good condition reassuring for fans after a dramatic night in Madrid.
