Angel Reese continues to build a growing business empire beyond the basketball court, and her latest move signals a clear focus on long-term influence within the global sports industry. The Chicago Sky star has officially joined the ownership group of the Brisbane Bullets, an announcement confirmed Tuesday by the National Basketball League.

The NBL serves as the premier men’s professional basketball competition across Australia and New Zealand, and the addition of Reese represents a notable crossover between WNBA talent and international basketball investment.

The ownership development comes shortly after Reese visited Australia as part of a promotional tour with Reebok.

During the trip, the company showcased new colorways of the signature Angel Reese 1 basketball shoe, a product that reflects the growing commercial power of the Chicago Sky forward.

That visit also coincided with another major announcement: Reebok revealed a new footwear partnership with the Women’s National Basketball League, which will officially begin during the 2027 season.

The agreement further highlights the growing international interest in women’s basketball and the role players like Reese are playing in expanding the sport’s reach.

Global basketball icon and entrepreneur Angel Reese is investing in Brisbanes effort to bring a WNBL franchise to the city by joining the bid for the league’s 10th license.

Reese continues to build a growing sports business portfolio

For Reese, the investment in the Bullets is the latest step in a rapidly expanding portfolio of ventures outside of professional play.

In 2024, the Sky star became part of the ownership group for DC Power FC, a club competing in the United Soccer League.

That move demonstrated her interest in investing across different sports, particularly organizations positioned for long-term growth.

She has also been involved in the ownership group behind the sports media and lifestyle brand TOGETHXR, an initiative co-founded by prominent athletes including Sue Bird and Alex Morgan that highlights women’s sports and female athletes.

Beyond business investments, Reese has also prioritized philanthropy and community impact.

In 2023, she launched the Angel C. Reese Foundation, an organization designed to empower girls and women through programs centered on sports participation and educational opportunities.

That mission aligns closely with the goals of the Bullets, who are working to strengthen basketball participation in the state of Queensland.

Club leadership believes that Angel Reese‘s global profile could play a meaningful role in encouraging young athletes to engage with the sport.

Malcolm Watts, CEO of the Bullets, emphasized the importance of adding a figure with such international recognition to the organization’s ownership structure.

“Angel is a fantastic ambassador for basketball and a globally recognized superstar,” Malcolm Watts said. “Basketball is Queensland‘s fastest growing sport, and that is a powerful message for kids picking up a basketball in Brisbane.”

Brisbane Bullets undergo changes

The ownership news arrives during a period of significant change for the franchise.

Earlier the same day, the Brisbane Bullets also announced that Will Weaver will assume the dual role of president of basketball operations and head coach.

As Reese continues her career with the Sky, the investment signals a forward-looking strategy that extends well beyond the WNBA.

By securing ownership stakes and building partnerships across multiple sports organizations, she is positioning herself not only as a star athlete but also as an emerging figure in the global business of sports.
