The New York Yankees are in the midst of preparing for the upcoming season with Spring Training and are using all their resources to take the necessary steps towards a rematch in which they will seek to return to the World Series, after losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024.

For the 2025 mission, the organization has surrounded itself with several of its legends, the most recent addition being Alex Rodriguez, who will join to collaborate in the preparation along with other figures such as CC Sabathia, Roger Clemens and Jorge Posada.

According to a post on his X account by Newsday Sports journalist Erik Boland, A-Rod arrived at the Yankees camp in Tampa on Friday to join “as a guest instructor” and is expected to work for a couple of days.

Alex Rodriguez played in the Bronx from 2004 to 2016 as a third baseman and is one of the icons of recent Yankees history, after winning the 2009 World Series. He also has two Most Valuable Player awards, three Silver Sluggers and is a seven-time All-Star, but has not been selected for the Hall of Fame because he was linked to steroid use.

Yankees’ first games in Spring Training

The two initial challenges facing the Yankees in 2025 are overcoming the wounds of losing the World Series and then losing Juan Soto to the New York Mets. For now, they have already begun their first games in Spring Training with a 4-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, in which Paul Goldschmidt made his debut with a double that drove in the runs of Jasson Dominguez and Cody Bellinger

For this Saturday, the first defeat of 2025 was presented when they fell 6-4 to the Toronto Blue Jays of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who with a single drove in Andres Gimenez, to take a lead that they would not lose.

The debut of the Automated Balls and Strikes System (ABS) was one for the ages, as in the sixth inning the Yankees turned a strikeout into a walk, extending an inning in which they scored three runs

“The time to challenge a closed pitch was there, and obviously, he was right and convinced of it,” manager Aaron Boone told MLB.com. “We’ll continue to gain as much experience as we can with this.”
