Vinícius Jr. opens up about his relationship with Xabi Alonso and coaching preferences

Vinicius Junior appeared in the press room on the eve of the match against Bayern and sent a blunt message: “The stage with Xabi Alonso has been a moment of learning, I have improved as a person. I could not connect with him, but with Arbeloa I have a great connection and he has given me great confidence as happened with Ancelotti.”

“I have always given everything for the team. I think I had never been so long without scoring goals, like when I was young and didn’t have a head, but I have learned from that last bad moment and good players always turn that around,” said the Brazilian.

Bayern: “The most important thing is the connection with the fans. We have to be ready because a great team is coming, but we have a lot of experience in these matches.”

Real Madrid’s change: “There are days and days and that’s what happened in Mallorca. We weren’t as connected as in the last games and as the coach says, if we’re not at 200% we’re not going to win the games.”

The partnership with Mbappe: “People say a lot of things, Kylian has always scored goals and helped us. We have to be connected tomorrow, I have an incredible connection with him on and off the pitch.”

Renewal: “I hope I can continue for many years, we know what we all want and at the right time we will do the renewal. I am very calm because I have the confidence of the president, I am happy here and I want to continue for many years.”

At its best

His current moment: “Now very well, I have had difficult moments where the fans whistled at me. We have played with the national team and it is more complicated, but I do a job with the club and at home to be 100% ready to help the team.”

Kane and his possible absence: “It would change because he scores a lot of goals but they have other great players. But Kane is playing and we have to be ready.”

On whether it bothers him that people say there is less balance with Mbappe and Vini together: “Of course it bothers me and you have to understand what the club wants, what comes from outside we can’t change. If we are together we make the team better.”

Racism

Lamine’s incident with Spain and racism: “The poor, the black people who are everywhere have it more difficult, and we players can do a lot. They are not racist countries but there are racists in these countries that is so and if we continue this fight together in the future the new players can avoid these things and people too.”

Militao’s return: “I’m very happy for his return, he is undoubtedly the best centre-back in the world and with him we are stronger. There are Jude, Ceballos, Ferland who can help us a lot and I think it’s going to be a nice end of the season for us.”

That anger with Xabi for the change: “It was a moment that was not nice, I apologized to everyone. I like to play all the games and I did not go out any. Then with a cool head you can understand that you were wrong. I’m young and every day is a new experience in which you can improve.”
