Troy Aikman floats Travis Kelce as future ESPN broadcaster alongside Jason Kelce

Travis Kelce is preparing for another season with the Kansas City Chiefs, but conversations about his life after football continue to be a huge talking point. The star tight end, who continues to perform at an elite level heading into what could be the final phase of his career, is increasingly being viewed as a future media personality rather than just a player.

That narrative was recently amplified when Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman, now a leading voice on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, casually suggested that Kelce could one day join the network’s broadcast lineup alongside his brother Jason Kelce.

The idea was floated during an appearance on the New Heights podcast, where Aikman praised Jason‘s impact and hinted that adding Travis could make ESPN’s coverage even stronger.

“I’ve covered enough of your games, but now I am a teammate of Jason’s, and he makes us better. So it’s awesome. And now, if we get his brother, we get his younger brother over to the worldwide leader, we got something,” said Aikman.

Broadcasting buzz builds around Travis Kelce’s future

Kelce‘s potential transition into broadcasting is not a new conversation, but it has gained traction as he approaches the later stages of his playing career.

ESPN chairman James Pitaro has already indicated that the network would be interested in speaking with Kelce once he decides to retire, pointing to his popularity and ability to connect with younger audiences, particularly given his high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift.

At ESPN, Jason Kelce has already established himself as a familiar presence on Monday Night Countdown and other studio programming, which only strengthens the appeal of a possible brotherly pairing on screen.

The chemistry Jason brings to analysis has been widely praised, and executives see a similar opportunity in Travis, whose charisma and candid personality could translate naturally into live television.

Aikman‘s comments during the New Heights podcast added further fuel to the speculation, as he casually imagined a scenario where Travis Kelce joins ESPN and works alongside Jason, creating a rare brother duo in sports broadcasting.

Beyond ESPN, other networks are also believed to be interested in Kelce, with reports suggesting he could command as much as fifteen million dollars per year for a role on Amazon’s Thursday Night Football coverage.

Analysts have even floated the possibility that he could eventually replace Kirk Herbstreit once Kirk‘s deal expires, highlighting how highly valued Kelce‘s media presence is expected to be.

Streaming platforms, in particular, are seen as aggressive suitors because of Kelce‘s crossover appeal, which extends well beyond traditional NFL audiences and into pop culture, music, and entertainment spaces.

For now, however, Kelce remains fully committed to the Kansas City Chiefs and is expected to continue playing at least through the 2026 season, keeping his broadcasting future on hold while he remains on the field. Even so, the growing overlap between current NFL personalities and broadcast roles suggests that Kelce‘s eventual move into media is less a question of if and more a question of when.
