Travis Kelce’s father shows his claws in defense of his son ahead of the explosive Chiefs vs. Cowboys matchup

This 2025 season, the Kansas City Chiefs have been riding an intense roller coaster. Just as they rise, they dip again. When it seems they have finally found the rhythm of previous years to reach another Super Bowl, they stumble, prompting doubts and criticism, especially toward two players in particular, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Faced with this situation, Travis’s father, Ed, refused to stay silent and delivered a forceful message to the team’s haters, particularly those targeting his son. Many have gone after Taylor Swift’s fiancé, claiming he has significantly declined in his on-field performance.

A furious Chiefs comeback against Indianapolis

When it looked like they would lose at home to the Colts, Mahomes, Kelce, and company proved they are far from finished and showed that the criticism toward Travis, accusations that he is old and past his prime, is not something he takes seriously, continuing instead to deliver above-average performances. It is also true that Travis’s production dipped in 2023 and 2024.

However, in this 2025 season, the tight end appears to be experiencing a resurgence, aiming to finish his career surpassing the 1,000-yard mark, something he failed to accomplish in the past two years.

The pace he has set so far, before the start of Week 13, includes 54 receptions for 674 yards and four touchdowns, numbers that put him on track for the milestone that has eluded him in recent seasons.

With this in mind, Ed Kelce offered a pointed statement aimed at those eager to see his son fail.

If anyone questions how good Travis is playing; through week 10 he leads all tight ends in total yardage.

At the moment, Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride has more yards than Kelce, with 797, but he has also been targeted more often, 109 times compared to Travis’s 92.

The Chiefs need a fully effective Travis Kelce

For the Chiefs to be consistent this season, they need Travis to return to the level of previous years. With all the adversity Kansas City has endured throughout the year, the team is hoping to finish strong now that injured and suspended players are returning.

This Thursday, November 27, on Thanksgiving, they will face the Dallas Cowboys in a game where they hold a slight advantage to secure the victory. However, Dallas’s recently awakened defense could put them in serious trouble.

If the Chiefs manage to establish their presence in the first quarter and put points on the board, the game could tilt in their favor very early in the matchup.
