Travis Kelce’s bold words for Shedeur Sanders: Can the Browns’ QB rise to the challenge?

The arrival of rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns has sparked renewed excitement in Cleveland, and earned passionate support from unlikely corners of the NFL.

On a recent episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce did not hold back, showering Sanders with praise.

“Talk your [expletive] Shedeur, let’s [expletive] go,” he exclaimed, celebrating Sanders‘ first start and win. As the 45th starting quarterback for the Browns since 1994, and the first to win his initial official start since 1995, Sanders has already etched his name in team history.

Travis’ enthusiasm was shared by his brother, Jason Kelce, who emphasized that while Sanders‘ statistics weren’t remarkable, the rookie’s poise and ability to make big plays gave the Browns a spark long missing from the offense.

In a season defined by inconsistency at quarterback, Sanders‘ performance offered a glimpse of hope for fans and analysts alike.

“I cannot wait to watch this week, that is for sure,” Jason said. “In one game Shedeur showed them more than they had seen really in any of the games with Gabriel, right?”

A performance that reignited the fanbase

In his first NFL start, Sanders completed 11 of 20 passes for 209 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception. While the numbers were modest, the impact was significant: Cleveland secured a victory, and Sanders demonstrated the kind of playmaking ability that had been missing in previous outings.

As Jason Kelce put it: “For a first start, [he] won the game and had some pretty good success. So now we get to see it again.”

Despite the encouraging debut, Sanders still has areas to improve. His completion percentage and consistency require work, and he will face pressure to sustain drives over multiple games.

The Browns’ coaching staff remains cautiously optimistic, recognizing the rookie’s talent while understanding that one successful start is only the beginning of a learning curve.

Even so, Sanders‘ performance has already reinvigorated the fanbase. His ability to make key plays in critical moments, combined with his historic achievement as the first Browns quarterback in nearly three decades to win his first start, has created genuine excitement about the team’s future.

Whether Sanders can maintain this momentum remains to be seen, but his debut victory has done more than just add a tally to the win column. It has rekindled hope and given Cleveland a reason to believe in what could turn out to be stable and promising future at quarterback.
