When rookie quarterbackShedeur Sanders finally got his first NFL start and delivered a win, veteran tight end Travis Kelce made sure the moment didn’t go unnoticed. On the widely followed podcastNew Heights, co hosted by Travis and his brother Jason Kelce, the elder Kelce quickly voiced what many fans were thinking: it was time for Sanders to shine.

Travis, a Cleveland native, admitted that part of his excitement comes from his hometown roots. Despite playing alongside Patrick Mahomes with the Kansas City Chiefs, he didn’t hide that a part of him supports the Browns when a promising quarterback like Sanders finally gets a real shot. It was also a bit of motivation for Shedeur after being “punished” and falling to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

That opportunity arrived when the Browns named Sanders their starter against the Las Vegas Raiders only after Joe Flacco was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals and fellow rookie, third-round pick Dillon Gabriel, made his debut before Shedeur and is now recovering from an injury. Only then did Sanders get his chance, and Kelce couldn’t help but get fired up.

In that first start, Sanders completed 11 of 20 passes for 209 yards, threw a touchdown, and helped Cleveland secure a 24-10 victory, snapping a rough stretch and giving the rookie a much-needed win to build on.

For Travis, the win was about more than box-score numbers. On New Heights, he praised Sanders’ poise and potential. With a smile and a wrist-flick salute to Sanders’ signature celebration, Travis shouted, “Let’s f***ing go!”

A rookie criticized by many, loved and respected by others stepping into a situation where the only thing that matters is proving yourself, and he delivered. And Travis hasn’t missed a single moment to publicly support him from the very beginning.

All eyes are now on Sanders as he prepares for next week’s matchup in Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers, hoping to let his play do the talking once again and help the team secure another win.
