Golf fans, mark your calendars – Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s long-awaited TGL face-off finally has a date. The two icons will lead their respective teams, Jupiter Links GC and Boston Common Golf, into battle on March 1, 2026, at 9:00 P.M. EST.
The showdown between the co-founders and co-owners of the high-tech simulation league will be one of the most anticipated moments of TGL’s second season, which officially tees off on December 28, 2025.
That opening match will feature Atlanta Drive GC vs. New York Golf Club, kicking off what’s expected to be a thrilling three-month slate of competition. The full schedule was unveiled today after NUCLR GOLF leaked it on X, sending fans rushing to grab tickets as sales opened on Tickets On Sale.
The season will be full of exciting duels
Season 2 promises fewer back-to-back matchups than last year – which saw three contests on a single day – but a tighter, more competitive calendar running through March 3, 2026.
The rematch between Woods and McIlroy will come more than a year after their last clash, where Woods’ Jupiter Links GC edged out McIlroy’s squad 4-3. This time, both teams are expected to bring star-studded rosters and revamped strategies.
The excitement doesn’t stop there. Just one day after the Woods-McIlroy matchup, the Los Angeles Golf Club and New York Golf Club – last season’s finalists – will square off in another marquee game, setting the stage for a dramatic close to the regular season.
There’s a new contender in town
But perhaps the biggest surprise came buried in the league’s website update: a new TGL team is joining the mix in 2027. The Motor City Golf Club, representing Detroit, will become the league’s seventh franchise.
The team will be co-owned by Sheila Ford Hamp and her husband Steven Hamp, who also have ties to the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos. With that confirmation, Woods and McIlroy have also signaled that TGL is here to stay, locking in plans for a third season in 2027.
And while Motor City GC doesn’t yet have a logo or roster, the announcement adds even more buzz to a league already brimming with star power, tech innovation, and off-the-charts anticipation.
